Hey Dan, Jennifer Whiteford (who's written for Razorcake and much more!) has a book coming out this year that maybe fits your criteria perfectly! https://www.penguinrandomhouse.ca/books/729266/make-me-a-mixtape-by-jennifer-whiteford/9780385689175

You're the Kind of Girl I Write Songs About by Daniel Herborn is a YA rock romance that talks about The Replacements, The Gaslight Anthem, The Hold Steady, Ted Leo, The Mountain Goats, The Menzingers, Smith Street Band... and its set in my old Sydney music scene. Its basically my perfect YA book

Ooo. My friend Janelle wrote a YA book called The Victoria in My Head that had a lot of music references too. The Anniversary, Hop Along, etc. Good to indoctrinate the youth imo

Xaime Hernandez' love and rockets is like a punk rock opus.

Jonathan Lethem’s “You Don’t Love Me Yet” somehow gets overlooked even by his fans, but it’s great. A romantic comedy centered around members of a band in Silver Lake, HaFoSaFo included!

God-Shaped Hole and How to Kill a Rockstar, both by Tiffanie Debartolo. Also I really enjoyed Love is a Mixtape.

Second one is extremely relevant to something I was working on last year. Thank you!

The Fetishist by Katherin Min, which just came out this year, for sure fits. I would argue that I Love You So Much It's Killing Us Both, coming out in a few days, will fit. And Eddie and the Cruisers by PF Kluge, duh.

Revisit this topic in a couple of years; I've been working on this novel for the past 2 years and have a ways to go! Not a happy-ending sort of romance, but both protagonists are musicians.

The love and rock don’t quite intersect, but Every Anxious Wave by Mo Daviau comes pretty close.

I'll look it up!
