Hello. I helped blink-182’s Mark Hoppus write a book. It’s called FAHRENHEIT-182 and it will be released on April 8, 2025 by Dey Street Books. The book is Mark’s memoir of growing up the child of divorced parents in the California desert, starting the most popular punk band in the world, and surviving cancer. But it also doubles as the definitive history of blink, seeing as how Mark is, as he once put it to me, the only person on earth who has been to all of their shows.
But you don’t have to take my word for it. Here, I will let Mark tell you all about it:
Mark has a lot planned for the release so I’m sure I will have more about it for you in the coming months (like and subscribe, etc.), but for now I will just say that this was an absolute dream project. Probably the most fun I’ve ever had putting words together. I was actually very sad when we finished because I didn’t want it to end. Mark really dug deep and put it all out there and it shows. I am very proud and honored to have been on the team. The book is very funny in a way that you might expect, but it’s also very dark in a way that you might not expect. Or, as Mark very succinctly described it recently:
I have to be careful not to give anything else away but ohhhhh what the hell. Don’t tell anybody but here are a few words we used in the book: five, nothing, time, California, hard, gone, pizza, dirt, buttons, mattress, proud, glow. And that’s just some of them. There are lots more. Climb, that’s another. And burn, that’s in there too. Lots of words, is what I’m saying. More than 75,000 of them, in fact (although some of them may be duplicates).
You can pre-order FAHRENHEIT-182 wherever you get your books. I recommend going through an indie store at Bookshop.org!
