Hello! I had planned on doing a longer book tour last year when SELLOUT was released but the dreaded Delta variant was making travel uncertain so I had to scale it down to just two events, in LA and Brooklyn. They were both a fucking blast and the best vibes. It felt like a punk show but for books. Just cool people who wanted to chill and make jokes about bands they remember, the beloved pastime of punks over the age of 30.
Well guess what, motherfuckers. SELLOUT is out in paperback now which means I’m coming to your town! (Provided you live in Asbury Park, Philly, or Chicago.) That’s right, it’s the book tour based exclusively around cities mentioned in Menzingers lyrics. If Greg hasn’t sung about being drunk at some dive bar there, I ain’t coming!
NEW JERSEY
Speaking of the Menzingers, my first stop will be in Asbury Park, NJ, on Sunday afternoon, November 6, right before the big Menzingers/Touché Amoré/Screaming Females show at House of Independents. Stop by beforehand, get a drink, hear me reminisce about punk’s sellout era, and get a book signed. It’s right down the street at Wild Air Beerworks! DRESS CODE IS EXCLUSIVELY JEAN JACKET ATTIRE. Note: Security WILL be checking jean jackets at the door (enamel pins also encouraged) and violators will be EJECTED. (I am really looking forward to this one. Maybe the bands will even stop by who knows!)
PHILLY
Next up is Saturday afternoon, November 12, at Kung Fu Necktie in Philly. My favorite people live in Philly, my favorite bands are from Philly, this one seemed like a no-brainer! Tickets are free. Reserve them right here!
CHICAGO
And lastly (for now), I will be at the Gman Tavern in Chicago on Wednesday evening, November 16. I got A LOT of requests to come to Chicago and, well, give the people what they want, I say. All Dan Ozzi, all the time! (I should mention that if you asked me to book a Chicago event but don’t come to this, that is ILLEGAL. You have done a perjury and could face a hefty fine/jail time.) A good portion of SELLOUT takes place in Chicago so I’m excited to visit and hear from you all about what I got wrong!
I’ll have books and records for sale at all the events. Tell your friends!
THANK YOU… [CHECKS NOTES] SAN FRANCISCO!!
Speaking of events, I just did an intimate little reading at Silver Sprocket in San Francisco this past weekend with Aaron Carnes, author of In Defense of Ska.
Thanks to everyone who came, especially Adam from Jawbreaker who stopped by. He told me he really liked Worriers’ take on their song which I recently released exclusively on my new SELLOUT covers record. I won’t tell you which song they covered (not “Boxcar”) (or “Kiss the Bottle”) but I agree that it does absolutely kick ass. (Also, if you didn’t want to pay the high shipping costs for the vinyl, Worriers will have a few copies for sale this weekend at Fest. Find them there!)
WAIT I’M ALSO GIVING AWAY MY DANG STUFF!
Hey also, while I have you, my publisher is giving away my crap! Go to the below Instagram post before tomorrow and comment #SweepstakesEntry.
